Access Statement For The Leeway

Introduction

The Leeway is a quality boutique b&b, in the heart of Whitby, North Yorkshire. We have 10 steps leading to the front door. There are handrails on both sides of the steps to help with access. The dining room and one bedroom is located on the ground floor.

  • There is a bell to ring, located on the wall by the entrance of the front door, when accessing the building for the first time
  • There is a bell in the hallway to ring for assistance should you require the ironing facilities etc

Bedrooms

  • No bedrooms are suitable for wheelchairs
  • Fire Alarm is a very loud bell
  • Deafgard device available for the Deaf to alert them incase of fire (available from June 08)
  • All Guests are told the evacuation process on arrival, and are told that if they hear the fire alarm they are to assemble outside front gate.
  • Our Fire Officer, would also knock on all bedroom doors in the event of the fire alarm sounding
  • All TV’s have Teletext and Remote Controls

Additional Information

The Leeway is not suitable for people who require wheelchairs, due to the only entrance having 10 steps to the front door. For people who require walking sticks, it is possible, as there is a handrail, and assistance is offered.
